The Economic and Security Alliance of Canada and the US

 Our bilateral relationship is one of the most comprehensive and close-knit in the world, and the United States and Canada share the longest international border in the world, which is 5,525 miles long and has 120 land ports of entry. A daily trade of products and services between us amounts to over $2.6 billion. This commerce occurs every single day. Both the depth and breadth of the connection are highlighted in the Roadmap for a Renewed United States-Canada Partnership, which was released on February 23, 2021. It lays the groundwork for an aggressive and comprehensive action on the part of the government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and to enhance our collective prosperity. There is a reaffirmation of a common commitment to diversity, equity, and justice, as well as the formation of a partnership regarding climate change, advancements in global health security, and strengthened collaboration regarding defense and security. Building on our common history and geography, our two nations work closely together on a variety of fronts, including the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the fight for an inclusive and robust economic recovery, the fight against the global climate challenge, the fight for border and national security, the fight against the opioid crisis, the fight for environmental protection, and the fight for free trade.

It is important to coordinate efforts to combat the pandemic and to improve the infrastructure.

In order to combat the COVID-19 epidemic and plan for both internal and global recoveries, the United States of America is collaborating closely with the government of Canada and other partners throughout the process. Our efforts to respond to the pandemic involve regular coordination on shared issues and best practices. At the same time, we continue to support the flow of commerce and vital supply chains. For the purpose of providing support to the COVAX facility, the United States of America and Canada have both contributed financial resources and vaccine doses to Gavi, the global vaccination alliance. In addition to the current response, the United States of America and Canada have indicated their intention to take immediate action on a worldwide scale in order to improve health security, combat biological threats, and avoid the next pandemic. In order to address the disproportionate effects that the economic recovery has had on women, youth, underrepresented groups, and indigenous peoples, the United States of America and Canada are working together to achieve a sustainable and inclusive economic recovery. We will work through new and existing policies and initiatives to speed the economic recovery of small and medium-sized firms, collaborate on vital minerals, and increase supply chain security. This is because we see the chance to build back again in a more effective manner.

United States of America places a significant amount of strategic importance on Canada.

Canada possesses a vast amount of natural resources, and the fact that these resources are located in close proximity to the United States and can be accessed by safe land routes is a significant strategic advantage. Multiple and close military links exist between the two countries, both bilaterally and as members of NATO. The cultures of the United States and Canada are also immensely compatible, as they share a language, a history, and customs, as well as comparable political ideologies, population compositions, and political systems. There are some people in Canada who give the impression that they despise the United States. All things considered, however, I believe that we are excellent allies. I am certain that in the event that Canada were ever endangered, we would immediately and without hesitation stand by their side.

In addition, we discuss and share the most effective methods and lessons learned on a wide variety of subjects, including the management and mitigation of public health concerns and natural disasters of various kinds.
